How to use it
Type the feet in the Decimal ft box: a whole number such as 6, or a decimal such as 5.5. The answer is shown in inches, and the other boxes fill in.
For feet and inches together, type in the Feet-inch box the way you would write it: 5' 4".
The math
- Feet to inches: multiply by 12. 6 × 12 = 72 inches, and 5.5 × 12 = 66 inches.
- Feet and inches to inches: multiply the feet by 12 and add the inches. 5' 4" is 5 × 12 + 4 = 64 inches.
A decimal is not the same as feet and inches: 5.4 ft is 64.8 inches, while 5' 4" is 64. To go the other way, use the inches to feet converter.

How do I convert feet to inches?
Multiply the feet by 12. 6 feet is 72 inches and 5.5 feet is 66 inches.
How many inches is 5 feet?
5 feet is 60 inches, because 5 × 12 = 60.
How many inches is 5 foot 4?
5' 4" is 64 inches: 5 × 12 is 60, plus 4. That is 162.6 cm.
How many inches is 6 feet?
6 feet is 72 inches, which is 182.9 cm.
Is 5.5 feet the same as 5 feet 5 inches?
No. 5.5 feet is five and a half feet, which is 5' 6", or 66 inches. 5' 5" is 65 inches.
