How to use it

The box at the top searches 161 documents listed by California's Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI), formerly OSHPD: 45 code application notices, 52 policy intent notices, 8 advisory guides and manuals, 25 forms and applications, and 31 testing, fire and life safety, plan review and clinic lists. Results appear as you type, closest match first, and each one links to the document on HCAI's own website.

What it does and does not do

It suggests where to look. It does not interpret a regulation, answer a plan review comment or tell you what HCAI will accept. Open the document, read it, and decide with your project's reviewer.

Matching is by the words in each document's number and title, plus common trade terms for the same thing, so ACD finds the amended construction document notices and form. It does not search inside the documents.

Questions

Is this an official HCAI or OSHPD website?

No. Calcitect is an independent site and is not affiliated with the Department of Health Care Access and Information or the State of California. It is an index: every link opens the document on the HCAI website.

Is OSHPD the same as HCAI?

Yes. The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) became the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI). Many documents and form numbers still carry the OSHPD name, so both are searched here.

Will it tell me how to respond to a plan review comment?

No. It suggests which HCAI notices, guides and forms are likely to be relevant so you know where to start reading. The answer is in the documents and with your reviewer.

Why does one notice have several links?

HCAI reissues many code application notices for each code edition. Each link is labelled with the edition it is listed under.

Why are rescinded notices listed?

Older comments, drawings and letters still cite them. They are marked with the date HCAI gives, and where HCAI points to a replacement it is shown.

Is what I type or paste sent anywhere?

No. The search runs in your browser against a list that loads with the page. Nothing you type is sent to Calcitect or anyone else.
